Hi! I’m Shannon.

As a Content Strategist,
I want to help businesses wrangle their content
so that they can better meet the needs of their users and more easily maintain their content going forward .

I'm passionate about user experience and information architecture. I studied psychology and sociology in college. I love Broadway shows and reading fiction. What do all of these things have in common? I love listening to other people’s stories—especially stories that are drastically different from my own. The other thing I love is a good puzzle; and after hearing a great story (or multiple stories), the trick is to take that information and newly learned perspective and figure out how to apply it to a problem in a way that’s truly meaningful.

Well, I get to listen to other people’s stories all the time in my work as a Content Strategist and UX researcher and I believe it is my responsibility to try to understand what’s driving those individual’s needs beneath the surface—to try to understand the deeper “why”. There are a lot of needs to balance—stakeholders, employees, users, colleagues, managers— so it’s helpful that I’ve got a knack for keeping the big picture in mind while simultaneously diving in and out of the nitty-gritty details that lead to a great user experience.

It's all about the people and the process.

I've worked on a variety of projects including websites, intranets, and apps, for a variety of clients, ranging from startups to large organizations, and I'll tell you now—it's all about the process. When you skip too many steps, that's when things start to get off track. At the same time, you need to be able to adapt and adjust as needed. As we all know, things don't always go according to plan. I have experience with the full spectrum of product design—from doing research in the discovery phase to developing a content strategy to creating wireframes and prototypes to bring the flow and requirements to life—so I've got a great arsenal of tools up my sleeve, I’m always open to learning something new, and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty.

But, enough about me. When it comes down to it, it's really about the team who's working the process. A reliable, positive leader on any team, I know how to work with people to get things done (and keep track of it all). There's nothin' better than celebrating a successful project/day/meeting/design/feature with the team who made it all happen.
