Documenting a Design Process
The Project
Document our internal design process at ExpandTheRoom.
I worked as an Experience Designer at ExpandTheRoom.
The Challenges
Getting buy-in from leadership and coworkers
Balancing this project with client work
Balancing not reinventing the wheel with wanting to be unique
My Role
I worked with a core group of team members who believed in the vision of defining our process over the course of two years to develop a design philosophy, a clear process map, and most recently a design toolkit.
The process we helped to define for ETR, Purpose-Driven Design, has really grown legs over the last year. It has helped to sway the decision in our favor in client pitch meetings when we are up against other equally talented and capable agencies. ETR’s Head of Experience was invited to speak on a podcast about our philosophy and design process. It has become a defining tenet for many of us on the team that we constantly refer to and remind each other of. I think we are just starting to see the long-term benefits, and I’m excited to have been part of the core team involved in making those things we believe in feel more tangible.
